MONTANA AUREOMARGINATA

One of the most beautiful hostas that you will recognize a long ways away.  Sport of H montana found in Japan, registered in 1987. Vase shaped mound. Leaf blade 15"x 8", oblong-eliptical to ovate shaped, green centred gold margined foliage, bright gold in spring, chartreuse in summer, leaf blade arching, slightly rippled, deeply impressed vein pairs, faintly corrugated, good substance. Pale lavender flowers on 48" scaped in July.  Site this hosta carefully.  It likes to come up early in spring and can get hit with late spring frosts.  Plant this hosta in a protected area where the soil stays frozen just a little longer so that it does not come up so early.
