Sport of Francee with a wider white margin, from J. Machen Jr., 1991. Patriot was the top selling white margined hosta in the 1990's and is still requested in our little nursery each year when customers see it. The clean wide white margins make it stand out in our garden. Leaves are 8 inches long by 6 inches wide, dark green centre, 1/2 to 1 inch wide margin that changes from creamy yellow in spring to white in summer, blade is ovate, slightly wavy, generally smooth textured, thin underside bloom, good substance. Flowers are lavender, narrow funnel shaped on 30 inch scapes in late July.
