HOSTA OF THE YEAR FOR 2004
Hosta of the year for 2004. Selected seedling from Florence Shaw,1980, registered by P. Aden. Massive mound of chartreuse to medium gold foliage. Leaves 16"x10"are broadly ovate in shape, shiny to waxy above, ribbed veins, moderately corrugated, cupped up or down and thick substanced. Pale lavender flowers in late July. Sum and Substance helped shape the interest in hostas as shade garden plants and has consistently been one of the best selling hostas. Very sun tolerant.
